Bollihope Burn

Bollihope Burn is a gorgeous spot and ideal for a picnic. It is only 5 minutes in the car from the cottage or you can walk it if you prefer. Head up towards Hill End and then back down into the valley.

The stream is gentle and safe for children to paddle in. When the sun shines it is lovely way to spend an afternoon. Here are some pictures I took in March 09:

If you are interested in finding crystal, look in the shallow waters of the burn for the tiny bits of purple fluospar and white quartz. These come from the old mineral workings on the road from Frosterley to Middleton in Teesdale.
