Hadrian’s Wall
Hadrian’s Wall is only 1 hour by car from Lyncroft Cottage and it is a really beautiful drive through the moors.

Hadrian’s Wall is in all likelihood the most famous Roman remains in England. It is a hugely impressive engineering feat that took 6 years to build and stretches 73 miles.
The Emperor Hadrian came to the imperial throne in 117 A.D. He decided that the Empire no longer needed to expand but instead should be secured “to separate Romans from Barbarians”. He therefore instructed that a wall be built across the northern frontier following the northern escarpment of the valleys of Tyne, Irthing, and Ede.
