The Weardale Museum
The Weardale Museum in Ireshopeburn is a small independent folk museum which was established in 1985.
It offers a step back in time to see what life was like in Victorian Weardale. In the authentic cottage kitchen one can glimpse home life as it was for lead-mining families over 100 years ago.
There is also a remarkable display of minerals, crystals and fossils.
For those of you interested in the Methodist pioneers, you can learn about John Wesley’s 13 visits to Weardale. High House Chapel hosts the largest collection of Methodist memorabilia in the North East.
